Acupuncture & Complementary Therapies

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the traditional Chinese medical practice which involves inserting very thin needles into specific points in the body to adjust the flow of energy within the body. This adjustment of the energy flow removes blockages, reducing areas of tension and restoring the bodies natural ability to function well and to heal. A typical acupuncture treatment takes approximately 45-60 minutes. The treatment includes an intake and assessment of the patient, a treatment with acupuncture needles, followed by removal of needles and Tui Na.

Pediatrics

Pediatric Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to resolve and prevent illness, and restore homeostasis. We treat infants to teenagers in our pediatric practice. When working with children we customize treatment based on each individual child’s age, health, body size, their level of comfort with treatment, and the presenting issue.

In our initial office visit, we educate both the child and their parents about the blockages (areas of tension) that we find and how these blockages contribute to their illness or dysfunction. Most sessions are 30-45 minutes long, and best results are seen with regular maintenance over a specific period of time based upon the issue being treated.

We offer a variety of techniques in our work with children to help them heal and restore healthy functioning:

Shonishin, is a needleless acupuncture treatment that offers the same benefits for children as acupuncture does for adults.

Tui Na is a version of Chinese medical bodywork. This therapy is used to improve energy flow and resolve many health issues and promote wellness.  As a part of our practice we also teach parents how to continue Tui Na at home to help their child improve between office visits.

Cupping is often used in pediatric treatment. This therapy involves glass or plastic cups to create a suction effect on the skin to increase blood circulation, loosen muscles and connective tissue, and create a soothing effect on the nervous system. This treatment is effective with children when treating a common cold/cough, improving lung/bronchial conditions and ridding physical tension.

Tui Na

Tui Na is an ancient and very effective form of Chinese medical bodywork. Through Tui Na specific energy and pressure points are found and used to remove blockages and restrictions from the body. As in all modalities of treatment at Collective Healing, in Tui Na we utilize both the knowledge of traditional techniques and modern medical biology, anatomy and physiology to address our patients presenting health challenges and wellness.

Tui Na sessions are tailored to the needs of each patient. Each session will focus on the major blockages the patient is experiencing also known as the root causes of disease. As needed, Tui Na treatment can also include some assisted movements to increase range of motion and decrease restrictions.

Cupping

Cupping refers to the practice of using glass or plastic cups to create a suction effect on the skin to increase blood circulation, loosen muscles and connective tissue, and create a soothing effect on the nervous system. Cups are generally placed on the patient’s back and can be left stationary or can be moved over the surface of the skin. A cupping treatment generally lasts for about 5-10 minutes and can be incorporated as part of an acupuncture treatment.

Distance Healing Sessions

Distance Healing Sessions are an opportunity to address any healing challenges & diagnosis of all stages. This is a no touch approach to offer the patient a powerful mind/body healing experience. We take into account all of your major health concerns and then systematically address these issues. Each time we are using anatomy & physiology and science as the blue print for our work. It is a modern approach to harness the power of our collective unconscious mind for the purpose of generating a healing outcome.

These sessions can be done by phone.
